Sashing debate....

Green Paisley
Grey abstract.

I have been sitting on my thumbs trying to figure out which center sashing I should use...I love the grey but I think the green paisley  wins! Since I will be using it for most of the backing it only makes sense.

My portable board is too small, I will be going to the hardware store today too make a bigger one!!

Trying out sashing...

Today I  received my last block. .....I guess I should've waited. Now I have one extra, maybe I will put it on the back. I can't imagine making one pillow?.?. So there are two fabrics I am auditioning for the sash. Dark purple and silver. There are actually silver threads running through this fabric. When I ordered it, I didn't expect it to be so rich looking.  Here they are.

Supernova progress

Ok
....so I  finally finished all of my squares plus extra. We were suppose to swap 5 blocks with our partners, 10 blocks was not enough for me to make a quilt. My partner had a family issue so I am missing a block; but that is OK life happens!! Here are a few of them. Tomorrow I will sew them together.

Supernova Friendship Swap!!

Finished my first block ahead of schedule!!!  Will be sending it to my partner as soon as I get her address.
You were given the option to choose 5, 6, and 7 colors.  I chose 5, that's enough for me!!

Getting back on track..

As you can see from my post in June 2013 I had begun packing and moved in July.  After spending less than 24 hours in my new home, an arsonist burned it down!!  My son and I lost everything.  So I'm trying to get my life back and get back on track.   I recently purchased the Twister template and made a quilt and wall hanging.  I think I am now addicted. So I have finished about 5 quilts. I dont think I took pictures of them before giving them away!!  But the new "SUPERNOVA" block swap I'm in, is going to be great therapy.  I am excited!

New swap I'm in!!

baby quilt finished!!

Baby quilt finished....but the baby was early.  I thought I had time, but they come when they want to!!!  I did not realize momma likes elephants.  Guess what??  The backing I purchased 5 months ago had blue elephants in it!! Go figure.  She said little does he know, he likes elephants too.  I think great granny square quilts are the quickest and easiest baby quilts around.  This is my second one and I will be making more.

So far so good...

Stringing along...

I must get back to work so I can post this on the String Along festival.

Camp Snoopy Quilt

I finished the quilt in one day for my grandson.  Just a little slow posting.  I have been working on my string quilt.  I love it.  I guess I don't know how big I should make it.   hmmm  Probably when I get bored with strings!!! (like that will happen)  LOL

Too much!!

I'm almost done with one of my grandson's quilts.  I need to quit procrastinating and go outside to take pictures of my quilts so I can sell them on Etsy.  Where does the time go????

13 strings and counting!!

The first three I did Monday.....I know I'm way behind.  I was trying to finish 2 quilts for the quilter.  But today I completed another "10"!!!!  So catching up won't be hard.  I don't know if I want to put them together as a Zig-Zag or Diamonds.  I'm thinking if I put small black triangles (uneven) in the corners, i might be leaning towards the Diamond layout.  This is truly scrappy, I'm having a hard time trying not to match pieces that are next to each other.  "Toya, just sew it"

QAYG

I just finished reviewing a blog called "The Quilting Edge".  The way she demonstrates and explains the directions are great!!!  I have done QAYG, but it included adding all 3 layers at the same time.  Turned out 'ok' but not like this one.  So in between re-upholstering my chair and making potholders, I am going to try this new (to me) technique.  Check it out! www.thequiltingedge.com

Back from being quilted!!!!

I have had the Bow Tie and Star quilt tops done for some time.  Okay a couple of years!!!  I guess in the shuffle of life I had them packed away in a box.  I will go through some misc. fabric tubs and see if there are some "UFO's" folded in between.  I will be a FINISHER this year!!!

Starting off the New Year right!!

Finally made myself a design wall/board.  I picked up some free 1/2" cardboard sheets from work and borrowed my daughters white fleece (I will tell her later)!!  But I have too much cardboard, maybe I will make my aunt or sister one. hmmm

Self portrait.

My next adventure is a self portrait I read about  from Craftgossip.com ( love that site).  Her name is Sandra Bruce.  I am in awe at the way she did hers.  I think I will  applique my first one until I can figure out the 'graphing' technique.
