QAYG

I just finished reviewing a blog called "The Quilting Edge".  The way she demonstrates and explains the directions are great!!!  I have done QAYG, but it included adding all 3 layers at the same time.  Turned out 'ok' but not like this one.  So in between re-upholstering my chair and making potholders, I am going to try this new (to me) technique.  Check it out! www.thequiltingedge.com

Back from being quilted!!!!

I have had the Bow Tie and Star quilt tops done for some time.  Okay a couple of years!!!  I guess in the shuffle of life I had them packed away in a box.  I will go through some misc. fabric tubs and see if there are some "UFO's" folded in between.  I will be a FINISHER this year!!!

Starting off the New Year right!!

Finally made myself a design wall/board.  I picked up some free 1/2" cardboard sheets from work and borrowed my daughters white fleece (I will tell her later)!!  But I have too much cardboard, maybe I will make my aunt or sister one. hmmm

My next adventure is a self portrait I read about  from Craftgossip.com ( love that site).  Her name is Sandra Bruce.  I am in awe at the way she did hers.  I think I will  applique my first one until I can figure out the 'graphing' technique.

I have 4 quilts I just received back from the quilt shop.  I am starting on the binding tomorrow.  I wanted to sell them on Etsy, but now that I have seen them,.....i am hesitant!!!

Recovered!!

I have been out of the loop lately because of knee surgery.  Thank God it was the left knee.  After a few weeks I was able to resume sewing!!  Last week I sent four quilts out to be quilted.  How I wish I had a longarm for myself.....One day!!! sigh

Saturday

After running errands all morning/afternoon, I was able to search for fabric.  I ended up ordering fabric from the www.Crazyquiltgirlfabricshop.com and www.Intrepidthreads.com. Can't wait to get them.  I have been looking for 'Pezzy Print' bundles and Aneela Hooey fabric......so it's a done deal!!!!  In the meantime, I am working on another tote bag order.  Enjoy the weekend!!!

Blogging

I have spent the last 3 hours trying to edit my blog.  I think I should have went to the library and got a book called "Blogging for Dummies".  LOL.  When my niece explained everything to me it was so easy, HA!!!!  Needless to say I've figured out and will be able to get this thing 'rolling'!

NEW YEARS RESOLUTION!!!

I need to blog at least once every other day.  October is quite some time ago.  eeek

I entered a contest at Fat Quarter shop, by way of Quokkaquilts.blogspot.com.  We are to pick 12 prints and 3 solids and make our own FQ special, this is what I did!!

I had way to much fun...... I hope I win!! Oh yea, I forgot you win a 1/2 yard of each fabric!!  Woo hoo...

New project!!

I ordered a Cricut Imagination machine......   I tried it out but, it doesnt compare to my love for sewing.  So I decided to send it back and down grade to a smaller version, because I dont need all the 'bells & whistles' for the grandkids photos. Or maybe I just don't need it!!  (there's a thought!) hmmm

Walking Foot

I bought a walking foot on Ebay 1 month ago.  ($45)  Finally, got to try it out today.  Everything was smooth sailing.  I quilted around a wall hanging and it worked great.  Now I am excited to actually start quilting  a child sized quilt.  I can't wait!!!

String Quilt block

I was able to remove my boot today and get started on a string quilt!!  YIPPEE!!  I must say these are quite fun.  They don't look like much until you get them squared-up.  Finally, using my scraps before they take over my sewing room.

PATTERNS......PATTERNS

Since I am unable to sew until the BOOT comes off, I am acting like a pattern junkie!!!!  Graph paper, pencils, and crayons, are my new best friends.  This is probably the only way I would take time out to create.  I usually find the fabric first and then find a pattern, it is now the exact opposite.  Which way do you create??

One hour out and about!!

Daughter took me out today to buy fabric backing for a quilt......  Why did I leave the coupon at home???  Probably another excuse to get out tomorrow. LOL!!! I'm getting ready to figure out how to sew with the left foot!!  Wish me luck.

Sewing Time Out...

I'm on a sewing time out because I had surgery on my ankle yesterday.  BOOOOO.  So I am drawing and lining up the next projects!!!!  I guess that means I will have to shop for fabric too.  What else am I to do??
